8Foot Felix maverick brand of musical mayhem has been nourished for 14 glorious years on the lifeforce of vibrant festivals - from Rainbow Serpent to Tanglewood - and we’ve gathered great accomplices along the way, spilling our collective vibrations out into kaleidoscopic dancefloor sessions. When we get our festival crew together for venue shows, that timeless carefree magic comes along for the ride.
Ungus Ungus Ungus are one such accomplice, and having lit the fire for the launch of Spacefreak in August, they’re keen to re-ignite with us on their home turf: the Dandenong Ranges. This time they’re bringing a whole new take on their carnival vibe: a soundsystem show, foregrounding electronic production with big bass and hard-riding dance rhythms along with original melodic instrumentation and vocals, and the extra amazingness of special guest, mesmerising musical polymath Mal Webb!
This line-up would put Ungus’s regular drummer Tommy D out of a job for the night, if he wasn’t showing up with his own foot-stomping show, backed by exquisite talent from our extended family of festival music wizards.
8Foot Felix’s headline set will deliver its customary fraying of time and space, but the dancing will by no means be over when they leave the stage. In fact, before you can say phat-tatstic, their drummer Stevie Tee will step out from behind the kit, swap his sticks for decks, and crank the party up a notch as DJ El Spanko. And on we’ll go merrily into the small hours…!
