Most people in the hills know our daughter, Isla, as little red. A gentle soul with a caring heart and sparky spirit.
Isla's essence was palpable wherever she went, loyal to a fault with wisdom beyond her years.
I raised her in the Dandenong Ranges, and we were both nourished by this giving environment, but she called out abuse and was punished for it and often ostracised by the community. Her mission in life was to prevent other children and women from suffering the same cruelties by the hands of men and the State.
Isla did not go down without a fight, that I am certain.
We last spoke to Isla on Oct 7th 2024, 2 weeks before her 20th birthday. I couldn't sleep that night and said to Sean when he woke up, "it's like she's gone; Isla is dead." It wasn't until 6.5 weeks later that we found out 2 men had been charged for her alleged murder. The following day the grizzly details were discovered via a media release. Isla was stripped of her humanity, dignity and respect in her life and death simply for being a woman, and a powerful and loving woman at that.
Please support Isla's family so they can open more hearts and continue their campaign for justice.
